"In Kiev (see Ukraine) we have found a Christian organization who is doing wonderfull work among streetchildren and pregnant teenagers/young women in need. The Linda Fund (www.lindafonds.nl) is trying to do fundraising by education and lectures in the Netherlands about these kids and their needs. First of all the helping aid consists of practical help; food, clothing and safety shelters and in the same time by bringing the Holy Gospel, so teenagers will not only find a safe place in 'Fathers House' but they learn to know the Heavenly Father aswell."
"Cornelia Johanna Arnolda ten Boom, generally known as Corrie ten Boom, (April 15 1892 – April 15 1983) was a Dutch, Christian Holocaust survivor who helped many Jews escape the Nazis during World War II. Ten Boom co-wrote her autobiography, The Hiding Place, which was later made into a movie of the same name. In December, 1967, Ten Boom was honored as one of the Righteous Among the Nations by the State of Israel...."

"...The Ten Boom family were devoted Christians who dedicated their lives in service to their fellow man. Their home was always an "open house" for anyone in need. Through the decades the Ten Booms were very active in social work in Haarlem, and their faith inspired them to serve the religious community and society at large.
During the Second World War, the Ten Boom home became a refuge, a hiding place, for fugitives and those hunted by the Nazis. By protecting these people, Casper and his daughters, Corrie and Betsie, risked their lives. This non-violent resistance against the Nazi-oppressors was the Ten Booms' way of living out their Christian faith. This faith led them to hide Jews, students who refused to cooperate with the Nazis, and members of the Dutch underground resistance movement...
Corrie became a ringleader within the network of the Haarlem underground. Corrie and "the Beje group" would search for courageous Dutch families who would take in refugees, and much of Corrie's time was spent caring for these people once they were in hiding. Through these activities, the Ten Boom family and their many friends saved the lives of an estimated 800 Jews, and protected many Dutch underground workers....
Four Ten Booms gave their lives for this family’s commitment, but Corrie came home from the death camp. She realized her life was a gift from God, and she needed to share what she and Betsy had learned in Ravensbruck: "There is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper still" and "God will give us the love to be able to forgive our enemies." At age 53, Corrie began a world-wide ministry which took her into more than 60 countries in the next 33 years! She testified to God’s love and encouraged all she met with the message that "Jesus is Victor."...

"I have carried the cross several times in Amsterdam.
However the time I carried the cross through Holland was in 1983. I carried the cross from Belgium and to Rotterdam and on to Amsterdam. This was in June and July.
The Netherlands has the best roads in the world for walking with the cross. In most of the places there are walking and bike paths. This was great for the witness with the cross.
In Amsterdam we did street preaching. We also carried the cross through the 'Red Light' district and witnessed to the people there.
There was a big Billy Graham Evangelism Conference in Amsterdam at the time. I met with Billy Graham, as I have known him personally since 1971. Many evangelists from around the world went out into the streets to witness with us.
My family was with me on this crosswalk in Holland including my children, Gina, Joel, Joy, Joshua, Joseph and Jerusalem. We had our car, a camper and tents.
Through the years I have returned to Amsterdam for rallies and crosswalks. This is a wonderful place to witness as people come here from all over the world.

"Hordes of tourists snap their way around the Netherlands in summer, but this is still the best time of year to sit picnicking by the canals. August is a great month for all sorts of events. Spring is a good time to visit for daffodils and tulips. Easter is busy in Amsterdam, but if you can visit during Koninginnedag it's worth fighting the crowds. Early October with its Indian summer can be an excellent time to come. In winter the museums are quiet, and if everything freezes over, there's great ice skating on the canals and flood plains."
